Warm thoughts to the Japanese people, Hirokazu Koreeda who attended the festival in 2009 and all our other friends in the country!
Japan has always been a very interesting filmnation. From the great classical directors Ozu and Kurozawa, to our times celebrated auters such as Hirokazu Koreeda, a guest at Films from the South 2009. We are in grief over the last days’ catastrophes, and take this opportunity to express our deepest condolences and concern in these difficult times.
We hope that our acquaintances and friends in Japan are in safety, and trust that the people of Japan with international help can recover and find peace in such an overwhelming situation. That they properly find the means to deal with the loss of their loves ones, of their missing and the thousands living in insecurity and despair.
Our thoughts got to all those who lost their lives in the tragedies.
