Starting tomorrow, Films From the South will again fill the cinemas and streets of Oslo with films and festival fun. You are invited to the official opening at 6 pm on Vika cinema.
This year’s opening film is Where Do We Go Now?, made by Lebanese director Nadine Labaki. The film recently won the audience award at the film festival in Toronto. We hope this sparkling musical-comedy will also delight and challenge our own festival audience. Despite the comic elements in Labakis latest film, the themes are dead serious. You can read more about the film here.
The opening ceremony will be held at Vika cinema on Thursday October 6 at 6 pm.
Tickets for the opening ceremony cost NOK 100 and can be bought on www.oslokino.no. There are a limited number of tickets for sale, so hurry up and get yourself a ticket when Artistic Director of Films From the South Lasse Skagen officially opens the festival.
Nadine Labaki will be present at the screening of Where Do We Go Now? in Vika 1. The film is also screened at 6.30 pm in Vika 2. Here you will get an opportunity to become better acquainted with one of the most prominent directors in the Middle East today when Labaki talks to Kristian Takvam Kindt in an exclusive Artist Talk.
Do not miss this year’s opening party! After the opening ceremony at Vika cinema we move through the Oslo evening to our friends at Fugazi. Here you can expect danceable rhythms from around the world, a graffiti-show with the Brazilian artist Rodrigo Vitorio Souza (aka Peacetu) and several surprises. The party is open to all!
Welcome to Film from the South 2011!
