The programme to this year’s Films from the South festival is finally out, and tickets are available NOW!
We are proud to present the best films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our Main Competition consists of festival favorites like Park Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden or Hirokazu Koreeda’s After the Storm, among many other cinematic gems.
We have something for everyone and even the kids have their own program. How about the beautiful The Boy and the Beast or the absurd The Satellite Girl and the Milk Cow, from our Mangapolis section? Or watch some real eye-openers from our section The Critical Room, like A Girl in the River and Among the Believers?
Get the complete overview of the festival program at our program page. Click on the stars to add films to you personal calendar. You can share your custom made program with you friends in social media.
DESIGN YOUR OWN FESTIVAL
Be sure to download the Films from the South app! That’s the easiest way to make your individual plan for the festival. Once you’ve downloaded the app (available for both iOS and Android), you can search for movies and browse our entire program or individual sections. You can add screenings to your calendar, express your opinion on the movies and see what others think of them as well. A valuable tool!
We have gathered some of the greatest directors alive and one that unfortunatly left us this year - Abbas Kiarostami – in the section called Directors Special Portrait. Here you get to know four selected directors a bit better, when we screen several of their films. This years Directors Special Portrait include Japanese director extraordinaire Hirokazu Koreeda, Silver Lion-winner Amat Escalante, Palm Spring-winner Gabriel Mascaro and Cannes-winner Mahamat Saleh-Haroun.
We have a lot of other amazing talents visiting, so take a good look at our complete overview of guests. You will find information about Q & A´s, director talks and special introductions in the film discriptions in our online program.
We’re looking forward to festival start on October 6.
See you then!
