The year is 1912 in Japan after the Meiji Restoration’s upheavals of society and its social structures, which restored the imperial power. Kiyoaki is the son of a nouveau riche family who has acquired its position as a consequence of these changes. His beautiful childhood friend Satoko is the daughter of one of the "old families". Kiyoaki discovers that he has feelings for her, but his social class is too low for her family. This is the start of a drama with powerful images and fatal and unsuspected consequences. ma
