Recycle takes us to the impoverished city of Zarqa in Jordan. Abu Amar, a former Mujaheedin, is forced to earn his living collecting used cardboard boxes for recirculation. After countless failed attempts to publish a book on Jihad and the Islamic revolution, he has to seek alternative methods to feed his large family. With the camera as an unobtrusive observer, Recycle portrays everyday life in Al Zarqai, the old neighbourhood of the former al Qaida leader Al Zarqawi. Abu Amar and his friends try as best they can to unite religion and politics in their search for a normal life free of conflicts, but with Zarqa for a hometown, this is not necessarily that easy. red.
