French-Korean director Ounie Lecomte breathes new life into her own memories of being an adoptive child in this touching film about a young Korean girl. Jinhee is abandoned in an orphanage by her father, allegedly in order to provide her with a better life. She grieves, but stubbornly refuses to accept her situation as anything other than a tragic misunderstanding. It is a moving story, brimming with tristesse and refreshingly void of evil. The film was produced by Lee Chang-Dong, one of today’s premier Korean directors. bb
