The young Mexican man Andrés is determined to cross the U.S. border. The only problem is that the border patrols are just as determined to stop him. Andrés ends up in the border city of Tijuana where Ela and Cata offer him a job. They have both been abandoned by their husbands and the presence of Andrés remind them of what has been lost. His friendship with the two women develops and makes Andrés reflect upon what he is so determined to leave behind.
