A group of women in pink saris shout slogans as they march through a small North-Indian village. They belong at the bottom of the caste system but have regained their voices through The Pink Gang. The organization consists of thousands of women under the leadership of Sampat Pal. She fights for women's rights in a caste society where traditions and superstitions still are highly predominant. The women tell heartbreaking stories of abuse and impossible demands, and we follow them as they cope with the abusers and try to come to terms with their experiences. Pal's message is simple: Women should not have to suffer in silence. Nevertheless, the problems they face seem insurmountable. Change takes time. mft
