In order to retrieve his father’s lost soul Abi must complete six tasks, each representing one of his father’s weaknesses. Soul Boy, filmed in Nairobi`s biggest slum, Kibera, is a cooperation between aspiring Kenyan filmmakers and the great director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola, Run, The Perfume). The result is an artistically ambitious film with plenty of suspense. We follow Abi`s struggle to save his father, while at the same time gaining insight into how both Kenya and Abi are shaped by superstition, social stratification, religion, and not to mention love. ktk
