Djibril leaves his country with the dream of finding success and solace in Europe, but soon discovers the cruelty of life. While his plan falls apart little by little, he realizes that returning to Africa has become what is most important for him. Touki Bouki portrays a Senegalese society of 1973 that is not too different from today’s reality.
