An eerie and fantastically shot tragicomic satire from war-torn Colombia. All Your Dead Ones is a black comedy about an ordinary man who has to fight cynical and corrupt leaders. Director Carlos Moreno is back with a harsh exposure of his native country’s useless power elite in a film where the conflicts simmer under the surface.

The cross-eyed farmer Salvador has his everyday routine abruptly broken when he finds a pile of fresh bodies dumped in the middle of his crops. He goes to the sleepy village nearby to tell his story, but no one will listen. Due to an election the same day, the police and the mayor are afraid of causing a public scandal. They try to sweep the problem under the carpet. All Your Dead Ones is an imaginative allegory of the Colombian society, filled with dark humour and symbolism. At the centre of the satire we find Salvador, an unconventional hero with a quiet demeanour and helpless personality. Moreno shows us election fraud, corruption and posters with missing persons on every street corner, all somber reminders of a country engaged in a civil war. He combines intense images with the beautiful chirping of grasshoppers and soft acoustic guitar music, creating an alarming and uncomfortable contrast. dgr
