A unique insight into the Israeli writer Amos Oz's literary and political universe. Oz is mentioned as a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature every year and we follow him on international lecturing tours, in conversation with writer colleagues and with both Israelis and Palestinians. Oz's own readings from the acclaimed biographical novel A Tale of Love and Darkness (2002) are stunningly combined with extensive use of archive material bringing the past Jerusalem and Israel's early existence to life. The film gradually unfolds to include Oz's own thoughts on his writing, Jewish identity, politics and his involvement for a peaceful coexistence with Palestinian neighbours. mft
