Enchanting scenes from the Mexican circus life. At Gran Circo Mexico, hard work and family life are combined while the circus moves from town to town with their lions, trapeze artists and clowns. The circus life is not romanticized in this richly photographed and deeply moving documentary which portrays a daily life centered on training, waiting and working. However, when the circus lights are switched on in the tent at night, the hard-working adults and children turn into artists. The circus is a school of life for the non-educated children. For the adults, keeping the wheels turning represents a constant struggle to survive. The son of the old circus boss keeps the machinery going with great personal costs. His plan is to die in the tent. mft
