Conversation with director and actor
After the film, there will be a conversation with director Anna Muylaert, lead actress Shirley Cruz and Larissa Avelar from the Latin America Groups in Norway (LAG Norge).
Muylaert and Cruz will participate digitally, and Avelar will be present in person.
About the film
Gal escapes a violent husband alongside her two children, Rihanna and Benin. She tells her children they are going on a great and exciting adventure. In reality, they are facing the dangerous streets of São Paulo on their way to her cousin, hoping to start a new life. Director Anna Muylaert has, in her previous films, The Second Mother and Don't Call Me Son, tackled Brazil's enormous class differences through family dramas. She does this again in her newest film, a gripping drama carried by a fantastic performance from Shirley Cruz.
