The Cleaner
Eusebio has fallen asleep on his blue and yellow couch. The phone rings and Eusebio answers curtly. Puts on his work dress; the white safety suit. Drives his car to the place where he will clean; where he will remove all traces of the epidemic that has befallen Peru. One day, in a house with two dead bodies, he hears crying. It’s Joaquin, an 8-year old boy now completely alone. They hardly speak, but make a connection nonetheless. Why do the children survive the plague, while the grown-ups die? A quiet and powerful dystopia, The Cleaner also shows cunning humour and clear elements of benevolence. baa
Suitable for persons 15 years and older.
