This documentary about the iconic duo Amadou & Mariam tells a story of resilience, joy, and the power of music.
Since the 1980s, their music has touched millions around the world. They are the faces of contemporary West African music, and while their success is vast and impressive, the road to fame has been marked by unrest in their homeland, Mali. And it is against this backdrop that Amadou & Mariam's more recent songs have become anthems for the dispossessed. Yet the duo's sound has remained optimistic — and an inspiration to the world.
On this latest album, they hope to unite people and inspire change. They also return to Mali to perform a concert in their home country. This is a story of finding hope in a chaotic world, and most of all, of spreading joy through music.
