The Critical room: What place does artificial intelligence have in film?
After the screening, the film’s producer, Kaleem Aftab, and director and producer Christian Schüssler will discuss the role of AI in film.
The Memory of Princess Mumbi could not have been made without artificial intelligence. Today, AI makes things possible that would have required enormous budgets just a few years ago. But what negative consequences might it have for artistic practice, creativity and copyright?
After the screening, the film’s producer, Kaleem Aftab, and director and producer Christian Schüssler will discuss AI’s role in film. The conversation will be in English. The moderator will be announced later.
Panelists:
Kaleem Aftab — Producer of The Memory of Princess Mumbi at NRK. He has previously produced films including This Is What It Is and The Imperialists Are Still Alive!
Christian Schüssler — Director, producer and creative entrepreneur. He founded Reimagine and Oslo Kreativ AI and has worked in drama, documentary and advertising.
Moderator: To be announced.
About the film
The year is 2093, and filmmaker Kuve travels to Umata to document life after a war that made all modern technology illegal. Memory of Princess Mumbi is a hugely impressive micro-budget film that combines AI-generated visuals with a postmodern, self-reflexive story about art and technology.
