Frontier Life

In Frontier Life the multi-faceted, San Diego based filmmaker and composer Hans Fjellestad attempts to capture the subterranean world of Tijuana. Placed on the border between the US and Mexico, heavily guarded by armed fences, the city of Tijuana has become a cultural Mecca, ripe in contrasts and constantly fed with impulses from different classes and cultures. Frontier Life is an artist’s take on the border region, interweaving shots of sprawling urban landscapes, dusty plains, cowboys, illegal drag races and cock fights with a new musical hybrid, which merges minimal techno and experimental dub with norteno and tejano music.
