Night Train

Spanning from this year’s Olympic Games in Bejing to avant-garde art, Chinese talent Yinan Diao warms up audiences from the entire world with this his first film. Wu Hongyan is in her thirties and works as a hangman but dreams of having a boyfriend and of marriage. Things doesn’t look so good until she meets the mysterious Li Jun. Her dream of winning his heart does not get more likely to succeed when it turns out that Li Jun’s wife was the last woman that Wu Hongyan executed. Night Train is both a suspense film and a love story. Bleak and believable with extraordinarily well-composed images, this film demonstrates that Diao is a director to be reckoned with in the future. red.
