Un Buda

The parents of Tomas og Rafael were among the thousands of Desaparecidos – people who ”disappeared” during the military regime in Argentina in the late 1970s. Now adults, the brothers are coping with the loss of their parents in different ways. The big brother Rafael has become a rational but lonely professor of philosophy, while Tomas recedes from the world, seeking a spiritual and also possibly physical father in Buddhism. Un Buda is a beautiful and searching film where meditation and dreams are weaved into the real world. The film shows an encounter between Eastern philosophy and the metropolis of Buenos Aires, and is about finding truth within oneself.
