Lucía is the protagonist in three stories in this film, which all reflect on women’s role in Cuban society, with central historical epochs as backdrops. In 1895 the Cuban patriot Lucía was seduced and tricked into revealing the hiding place of the rebels against Spain. One of them her own brother. In 1933 she sympathises with a young militant against the dictatorship of Machado, and falls out of favour with her family. During the 1960's Lucía barred from going to work, because her husband is jealous of a young activist who tries fight illiteracy. cinemateket
