At the End of Daybreak

Tuck Chui is a 23-year-old young man, unemployed and still living with his mother. Almost out of boredom, we suspect, he initiates a relationship with a girl of fifteen. Ying is still in school, and from a stable middle-class background. When her parents find out about the relationship they react with police charges and attempting to blackmail Tuck Chui’s mother. From an Asian tale of big city tristesse the plot accelerates into a blood dripping crime drama. At the end of Daybreak is the fourth film by a director worth watching closely. bb
