The Critical Room: Amazonian Deforestation and Development
AMAZONIAN DEFORESTATION AND DEVELOPMENT
In January, the leader of the Brazilian Nature Conservation Directorate resigned his post after only eight months. Recently, a series of Brazilian politicians and bureaucrats have followed his example and resigned their posts in protest against the planned large-scale construction in the Amazon. Human Planet is a BBC-produced series in eight parts, and we screen episode four, Jungles.
Who and what will this development harm and why are the protests so intense? What is Norway’s role in this? Dag Herbjørnsrud from Ny Tid will lead the conversation between among others Lars Løvold from the Rainforest Foundation, Elin Grande from LAG Norway and Andrew Preston from FIVAS.
