Human Planet: Jungles: People of the Trees
In January, the head of Brazil's environmental agency, Abelardo Bayma Azevedo, resigned from his post after only eight months. He is the last in a series of politicians and bureaucrats who have quit their posts in protest against the planned large-scale construction in the Amazon. Who and what will this development harm and why are the protests so intense? Why is it so important for Brazil to continue the deforestation of the Amazon? What is Norway's role in this? Human Planet is a BBC-produced series in eight parts, and we screen episode four, Jungles. Lars Løvold, managing director of the Rainforest Foundation meets Minister of the Environment and International Development Erik Solheim for a conversation.
