Man Without a Cellphone
A charming and humorous directorial debut with both edge and depth. Jawdat, a young Israeli Arab, spends most of his time talking on the cell phone. Having failed repeatedly in love and academics alike, he loses his spirit. Meanwhile, his father tends to the family’s olive garden, but expresses concerns over a mobile tower erected by the local government on the neighbouring lot. Convinced that the radio waves from the antenna cause illness in the local residents, he wages war against it. Jawdat, disillusioned by the social injustice he encounters as a second class resident, finally decides to act and joins his father in his quixotic battle. kej
