Southwest
Andrey Tarkovskiy meets Béla Tarr meets gothic literature and magical realism in Eduardo Nunes' haunting fable. Clarice is born, grows up and dies within 24 hours in a village where time otherwise follows normal hours. Cleverly exposing layer after layer, director Nunes and co-writer Guilherme Sarmiento slowly reveal what lies hidden beneath the surface, in a unsettling story that feels as if it was written by the ghosts of 1800's Brontë sisters. ess
Eduardo Nunes has worked as an editor on several short films. Among them, Land Wind (1995), The Childhood of The Barbed Woman (1996), Tropel (2000) and Reminiscence (2001) have won over forty prizes and have been shown in important festivals worldwide. Southwest is Nunes’ feature debut.
