The Delay

Maria is the sole breadwinner for her three children and her dementia-suffering father Augustin. They live together in a small flat with little room for privacy. We soon see how the father-daugher relationship suffers due to this. With a low income and no time to spare, she tries to relocate her father. Rejected by retirement homes and relatives, she finds herself in a difficult situation. Overwhelmed by her misfortune she takes drastic measures. Maria, played by Roxana Blanco, manages to portray the subtle language of the eyes. tr

The award-winning thriller La Zona from 2007 was Rodriges Plá´s first film. It won the Luigi de Laurentiis Award in Venice for best first work. Within a year he made an even greater success with the film The Desert Within (2008), which won seven awards at the Guadalajara Film Festival in 2008.
