Widows

A funeral brings together a widow and her late husband’s mistress in this Argentinian comedy about modern relations. Elena is a documentary filmmaker who one day receives an anonymous phone call saying that her husband Augusto is in hospital. It turns out that the young woman who brought Augusto to the hospital is his young mistress, Adela. Fate turns its hand and forces the two women to share a flat, while they both struggle to get over the loss of the man they both loved. Can they find solace in each other’s company, or is their grudge too strong? akek

Marcos Carnevale started his own production company in 1991, and has won several awards for his work with commercials. He made his feature film debut with Night Serenaders (Noche de ronda) in 1997. His film Elsa & Fred (2006) was met with wide acclaim, and won the Audience Award at Films from the South the same year. Other films include Almejas y mejillones (2000), Tocar el cielo (2007) and Anita (2009).
