Yatterman
Miike Takashiis totally unpredictable and can deliver absolute madness in all genres.
Here he has taken hold of the 70s anime series Yatterman, delivering a psychedelic children’s movie for adults. Meet the Yatterman Gang, who each Saturday evening battle the evil Doronbo Gang (three men and a selection of mecha monsters). In the film’s vague plot, both gangs are hunting parts of the skull stone, which when put together will give the owner unlimited power. A movie in which twisted characters and robot monsters cause damage in the most imaginative ways. krj
Miike Takashi made many of his earlier films directly on video. He is today known as the infant terrible of the Japanese film industry, where movies like Audition (1999), Ichi the Killer (2001) and the Dead or Alive series challenge every limit for sex and violence in a movie. Takashi has won several prizes at various film festivals, among others for Ichi the Killer, one of the last completely banned films in Norway.
