After the screening Poppe, together with Jan Egeland (Norwegian Refugee Council) and war-photographer Harald Henden (VG), will discuss the challenges and strains involved in combining working in conflict ridden areas with an everyday life at home. The conversation will be led by Sidsel Wold, journalist and previous Middle East correspondent for NRK.

Erik Poppe began as a photo-journalist, and has experience from conflict areas through his work for Reuters and VG. Poppe was the cinematographer for Bent Hamer’s film Eggs (1995), and directed his first feature film in 1998 with Schpaa. Since then his films Hawaii, Oslo (2004) and Troubled Water (2008) has earned him a reputation as one of Norway’s most prominent contemporary filmmakers.
