Miike Takashi (b. 1960) has directed roughly 100 films since his 1991 debut. After setting a breakneck pace in the years around the millennium, he now seems to have settled at two films per year. Possibly best known for Audition (1999) and the controversial Ichi the Killer (2001), Miike is a master of most (if not all) genres as he expertly toys and bends the rules if he feels creatively inclined.
