The world in Would You Like to Stargaze is black-and-white, often clouded by rain and clad in darkness. Arman, a poor young man living on the margins of a big bity, encounters Zhanna, a woman from higher up on the social ladder. He is fascinated and taken by her, follows her, and spends some time with her, but eventually he learns more about her troubled love life than he bargains for. The black-and-white photography and Emir Baigazin's exquisite use lighting adds a singular, existential atmosphere to this story about unrequited love. Enjoy the beauty and melancholy, and ponder Baigazin's kinship to Jarmusch, Kaurismäki, Bela Tarr and even Andrei Tarkosky. CFO
