Madame Brouette
A delightful film that provides us with a colourful glimpse of urban life in Senegal in the early 2000s, by unravelling the mysterious death of Madame Brouettes husband.
It's a blue Monday for restaurant owner Madame Brouette when her husband is found dead. He has made her life difficult, but could she have killed him? We go back in time, and slowly but surely, the story unravels. This was truly a different African film of its time. The urban mixes with the traditional through a group of griots - storytellers - who sing to explain the drama. "Madame Brouette" gives us a colorful glimpse into the urban life of Senegal at that time and was rewarded with a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for Best Music.
