I'M STILL HERE is a powerful drama about a dark chapter in Brazil’s history, a film that both engages and deeply moves.
Brazil, 1971. Life pulses on the sunny beaches of Rio de Janeiro, but in the shadows the military dictatorship tightens its grip on the country. Political opponents are monitored, persecuted, and disappear without a trace. The Paiva family – Rubens, Eunice, and their five children – live in an idyllic beach house in Rio, surrounded by friends. But one day, armed men knock on the door and Rubens is taken away for interrogation. Suddenly, Eunice is left alone with the children and must fight with everything she has to keep the family together and seek justice for her husband.

On the festival’s third day – Saturday, November 8 – the event «An Ode to the Missing» takes center stage. The evening begins with a screening of Walter Salles’ moving film I’M STILL HERE (FREMDELES HER), followed by a concert with Bugge Wesseltoft and a star-studded ensemble performing a tailor-made, original composition created especially for the occasion.
