Paco lives with his mother in São Paulo. The family has Spanish roots, and his mother has been saving money in the hope that one day they could return to visit their relatives. When Brazil’s public economy collapses and the government seizes citizens’ savings accounts, the blow is so devastating that she passes away. Paco is left alone, without direction or purpose. To escape, he accepts a dubious assignment that leads him to Lisbon.
