Lust in the Rain

Dream and reality seamlessly merge in this innovative Japanese film, inspired by the life and work of legendary manga artist Yoshiharu Tsuge.

Yoshio is a young, aspiring manga artist haunted by memories, fantasies, and traumas from the war. He falls in love with the widow Fukuko, who at the same time begins a relationship with his rival, the writer Imori. What begins as a love story evolves into a complex love triangle that moves across time and space – from postwar Tokyo to a brothel during the war. The narrative is fragmented and dreamlike, with an atmosphere reminiscent of David Lynch’s finest films.

Japanese Film Weekend

The film will be screened during the Japanese Film Weekend at Cinemateket in Oslo from NOV 7 to 9! The weekend will be packed with Japanese films, a celebration of diplomatic cooperation between Norway and Japan, and a Japanese activity day on Saturday.
