Cesar «Pudy» Ballumbrosio
César “Pudy” Ballumbrosio Guadalupe was born in the province of Chincha, in the Ica region of Peru. Together with his family, he has built one of the greatest legacies of Black music and culture in his hometown of El Carmen.
He is a percussionist, dancer, and traditional violinist with Atajo de Negritos. For as long as he can remember, he has upheld the customs passed down by his father, Amador Ballumbrosio Mosquera — a key figure in preserving Afro-Peruvian traditions.
In addition to being a professional graphic designer, he is also an actor. One of his most memorable performances was as co-star in the film Mistura. Set in Lima during the 1960s, when Peruvian cuisine was undergoing a period of revival, the film serves as a love letter to Peru — its people, its culture, and its food.
On the musical front, Pudy has performed on major stages around the world, collaborating with renowned Peruvian musicians and bands such as Miki González, PeruJazz, and NovaLima, among others.
At 41, he continues to lead an adventurous life through art, passionately pursuing his goal of telling great stories and leaving his mark on the hearts of the people and places he encounters — always with rhythm and determination.
