Soheil Beiraghi

Soheil Beiraghi (b. 1986, Shahreza, Iran) is an independent Iranian filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer known for his bold, socially driven dramas. In 2016, he made his directorial debut with I (Me), which was well received by both critics and audiences in Iran. His second feature, Cold Sweat, was released despite facing significant censorship from authorities and went on to receive widespread acclaim at international festivals.

Beiraghi’s third feature, Unpopular, centers on complex female protagonists confronting societal and institutional barriers. The film was banned from public screening in Iran for more than two years. In 2020, he founded Alef Pictures to support the production of independent films.

His fourth feature, Outcry, premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2025, where it received the Jury Prize.
