Miyazakis new masterpiece is the opening film at this year's Films from South.
THE BOY AND THE HERON, the latest film from legendary animation creator Hayao Miyazaki, is opening this year's Films from South on Saturday 11th of November.
THE BOY AND THE HERON is Hayao Miyazaki's first feature film in a decade, after THE WIND RISES from 2013, which will also be screened with other Miyazaki-classics at this years Films from South. THE BOY AND THE HERON is therefore a film with lots of anticipation. The highly anticipated animation got its international premiere at Toronto International Film Festival in september as the festival's opening film.
Through a visually stunning and colourful world, a complex story about the young boy Mahito and his move to a small town is depicted. Mahito is led into a magical world with a talking gray heron when he discovers an abandoned tower and the adventure takes off.

Miyazaki's most personal film
With first class animation, heartwarming coming of age drama and a thrilling fairytale-world inspired by japanese mythology, THE BOY AND THE HERON has everything you would expect from a Miyazaki film. This is a hand drawn original story and the 82-year old's most personal film yet.
THE BOY AND THE HERON is distributed by Arthaus and has its premiere in norwegian cinemas 24th of november.
