About Xalé:

Awa and Adama are a 15-year-old twin pair living in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Dakar. Awa is smart, excels in school, and has a bright future ahead. After their grandmother's death, they continue to live with their uncle Atoumane, who is planning to marry their cousin, Fatou. However, Fatou has no interest in her uncle, and a chain of events is set in motion that leads to an assault on Awa. The tragic story is portrayed intensely by director Moussa Absa Sene, in what is described as the third film in his trilogy about women in his homeland Senegal – all paying tribute to the struggle many Senegalese women face daily.

About the King George Band & Bacary Sagna:

George Kwadwo Ofori, known as King George VIII, is a 30-year-old Norwegian/Ghanaian artist and producer. He has been involved in music production for 10 years and has a passion for music stemming from his childhood in Ghana. This period of his life also serves as the inspiration for much of the music created by the young artist, encompassing a sound influenced by Afro-inspired R&B, hip-hop, electronic music, and a revival of West African genres like highlife and palm wine afrobeat.

The King George Band consists of four members with King George VIII at the forefront, alongside Louis Waltisberger, Clément Moliné, and Anita Antal. Originally formed for live performances, they have combined production and recording skills, resulting in King George's album productions from this year on. Joining them on stage is the eminent Senegalese percussionist and drummer, Bacary Sagna.

Bacary Sagna from Senegal comes from a griot family, the messengers of the ancient musical and oral tradition in Senegal.

He has established himself as a formidable musician, drummer, and percussionist in Norway, with many workshops and concerts under his belt. He initiated the formation of the group West African Jam, along with three other prominent musicians: Sidiki Camara, Solo Diarra, and Ibou Cissokho, plus some guest appearances. Bacary has drummed for CAK, the Center for African Culture, and has been a teacher at the Cultural School and in primary school.

The event is a collaboration between Films from the South and Cosmopolite Scene.
