About Linaje Peruano:

The musical performance aims to highlight the richness of Afro-Peruvian folk music and traditions. Three dancers and four musicians perform "Toro Mata" and other well-known Afro-Peruvian songs. The musicians and dancers are dressed in traditional white clothing with red scarves, presenting choreography that includes festejo and zamacueca, dances that represent the joy of the people from southern Peru and pride in their Peruvian heritage.

The audience is invited during the performance to join in a festive festejo and other traditional dances.

The screening and cultural performance are supported by the Peruvian Embassy in Oslo and the Swiss Embassy in Oslo.

About the film:

The year is 1990. Aurora and Lucía live privileged lives, but inflation has hit the country hard, so their mother plans to take the sisters to start a new life in Minnesota, USA. But before they can travel, they need the father’s consent for the girls to go abroad. The father, who has long been absent, now re-enters their lives, and the time they spend with him makes it harder and harder to leave their homeland.

The film is a co-production of Switzerland, Peru, and Spain and is Switzerland's official candidate for the 2025 Oscars.
