Behind the sun
Behind the Sun

Behind the Sun from Brazil’s master director, Walter Salles, confirmed his position as a master storyteller. At its core, Behind the Sun is about old traditions, such as blood feuds between families, but also about great love. Together with his regular cinematographer, Walter Carvalho (who also shot To the Left of the Father), Salles tells the story in an exceptionally accomplished way, with a unique ability to bring color and life to the screen through beautiful imagery. As writer Anthony Minghella put it in his review of the film: «It’s as close to poetry as cinema gets.»
