Fresh with the Jury’s Special Prize at the Locarno film festival we are happy to present this low key, black comedy from a director emerging with great talent, together with Asghar Farhadi (Fireworks Wednesday), in Iranian cinema of today. Sadry and Yadi work at a desolate petrol station, now removed from the main traffic routes. It is winter and heavy snow lies on the ground. Sadry takes off from time to time and seems obsessed with the weather. Yadi is in love with a girl from a nearby town. With a minimum of visitors the relationship between the two becomes sort of a modern version of Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. ls
