Sand and Sorrow
Several groups in the Darfur region of Sudan rebelled against the government in 2003 – and its countermove has so far resulted in more than 200,000 people killed and two millions on the run. After genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia, the international community said that this shall not happen again, but it took four years before the UN recently decided to deploy military forces in the region. Helped by George Clooney as executive producer and narrator, we are guided through the conflict’s timeline from the region broke away from Great Britain to today’s situation. War and famine have destroyed a country and a people, and in this important documentary their sad fate is described by experts and through witness testimonies as well as many powerful and unpleasant images. kk
