Slavery is officially banned internationally by all countries, yet despite this there are more slaves now than ever before- an estimated 27 million individuals, paid no money, locked away and controlled by violence.

The result of this investigation is an utterly devastating film. We are shown three separate industries where slaves are found: the cocoa industry in the Ivory Coast, domestic slavery in Britain and the USA, and the carpet industry in northern India, where approximately 4,000-5,000 children are missing from Northern Bihar.

The filmmakers also look at how slavery can be fought, without making the poor poorer; how by buying through organisations like Fair Trade we can make sure that when we buy a chocolate bar we’re not buying into slavery. oslodok
