More than 100 famous Iranian theatre and film actresses are silent viewers of a film about Khosrow and Shirin – characters in a romantic Persian epic from the 12th century. But all we get to see are the faces of the women and their reactions. Abbas Kiarostami is regarded as one of the greatest and most uncompromising directors of our time. His films have been celebrated at international festivals while the he himself constantly takes new directions to challenge the cinematic artform.
