An entertaining and delighful African journey which takes its audience seriously. Three Rwandan children set out on the road to Kigali so that football-crazy Fabrice can attend an audition for the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup. By mistake they end up in Congo. Having missed the audition, they start the arduous journey of just over 5,000 kilometers to Johannesburg trying to reach the ceremony. Both villains and wild animals are outwitted by the little gang as they throw themselves into the ever-new adventure. The film manages to focus on the continent’s challenges regarding both AIDS and child prostitution and successfylly incorporates these elements into the story. Nevertheless, African United remains a fun and brave family movie. red
