FAITH WITHOUT FEAR: RECONCILING ALLAH, LIBERTY AND LOVE THROUGH THE JOURNEY OF IRSHAD MANJI
The Canadian writer and activist Irshad Manji is working for reformation and new interpretations of Islam. Her debate book The Trouble With Islam Today (2004) and has recently released her new book Allah, Liberty and Love. The Courage to Reconcile Faith and Freedom. We will screen her documentary Faith Without Fear where we join Manji on a journey through countries, societies and ideologies in her investigation of Islam’s position in our time.
Manji opens her mouth where others are silent and works towards a more nuanced understanding of the religion and its place in modern Western societies. In The Critical Room, Manji meets publishing editor of Aschehoug Nazneen Khan-Østrem and social anthropologist Unni Wikan from the University of Oslo to a panel conversation.
