Eternity

This year's Tiger Award winner from the Rotterdam International Film Festival is a gentle and bittersweet ghost story from the Thai countryside. Eternity is a calm and beautiful film about belonging to a family and a place, and the connections that will always be there between the living and the dead. "The sort of love story that can only be believed in Thailand," the Rotterdam International Film Festival wrote about Sivoraj Kongsakul's feature debut. We start by meeting a man in wild despair driving around a field on a moped. Soon, we realize that the man is already dead – for what could be more descriptive of a Thai soul in search of the road, than a confused man on a moped? From here we follow the man’s history, meet his family and discover his Thai Buddhist belief. bb
