After the Battle takes us, with an almost documentary-like realism, into the messy reality of Egyptian post-revolution society. The film depicts how personal stories are affected by the political and historical conditions. Rim, a middle-class revolutionary, works at an NGO. Mahmoud, a poor horseman working in the shade of the pyramids offering rides to tourists, was one of the horsemen attacking revolutionaries on Tahrir Square. Each from very different layers of society, and both trying to deal with the aftermath of the demonstrations, the two meet one day. It soon becomes apparent that the revolution can look very different when seen through the eyes of a middle-class woman, than it does from behind the wall where the poor horsemen live. swa
